All ideas are being read and considered to help create the draft Central City Plan. The draft Plan will be released on 22 August 2011 for feedback.

LICENCED BUILDING PRACTITIONERS-STEP 1

From 1 March 2012 the first step in the Licenced Building Practitionsers (LBP) Scheme comes into effect.

Building practitioners must be licensed in order to carry out or supervise work on homes and small-medium sized apartment buildings that is critical to the integrity of the building.

This 'restricted building work’ applies to foundations, framing, roofing and cladding. It also applies to active fire safety systems in small-medium sized apartment buildings. An exemption will be available to owner-builders (do-it-yourselfers).

To learn whether your designer or builder is a LBP The Public Register of Licenced Practitioners can be searched on the Department of Building and Housing Website -www.dbh.govt.nz/lbp-register

Registered Architects are already “deemed” to have a Design area of practice (AOP) 3 licence, and do not need to apply to be an LBP because of their existing registration.

Rushton Architects has been a Registered Practice since its conception in 1998.
