Named the “Botox Building” by the Contractors, it really does describe the facelift transformation to this building.
As the key building on view to the community, the brief was to take this austere 1950s institutional looking block and give it a facelift to reflect the current modern creative learning culture of the Polytechnic Campus.

The concept was to break the monolithic façade into a series by introducing both horizontal and vertical elements along with depth to the façades. These sections would have relating language of forms and materials to tie the parts as a whole.

This concept found its expression in the final design that introduced a white plaster to the existing brick work which contrasted against the dark paneled blocks and local bluestone tiles. Louvers to control glare also add texture to the revitalised building.
